Checkin Apartments Awarded EcoVadis Gold for Sustainability

・July 15, 2025

We’re thrilled to announce that Checkin Apartments has been awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal, placing us in the top 5% of global companies for sustainability and ethical business practices. This recognition is more than a badge of honour—it’s a reflection of our long-term commitment to doing business responsibly, thoughtfully, and with purpose.

As the importance of sustainability continues to grow across the corporate travel and relocation sectors, we’re proud to be leading from the front.

“This Gold Medal is a testament to our team’s ongoing dedication to ethical business practices, employee wellbeing, and sustainable accommodation solutions,” says Gavin Pereira, Managing Director at Checkin Apartments. “We’re proud to be recognised by EcoVadis and remain committed to driving progress and raising standards across our industry.”

Our First Sustainability Report

Our 2025 Sustainability Report covers the period from June 2024 to May 2025 and provides a baseline for measuring progress year-on-year. It outlines our efforts across three pillars:

  1. Planet – our environmental impact

  2. People – our culture, wellbeing, and community focus

  3. Principles – our governance, compliance, and business ethics

We chose to go beyond surface-level claims. The report details our carbon footprint, working conditions, office operations, partner policies, waste practices, and even the environmental credentials of our suppliers.

This depth of reporting is intentional. It’s how we hold ourselves accountable, stay transparent with stakeholders, and identify where we can do better.

Successes We’re Proud Of

Some highlights from our first year of structured reporting include:

  • 95% client satisfaction score
  • Office relocation to a BREEAM “Excellent” rated building with rooftop solar panels, VRF air systems, motion sensor lighting, and comprehensive recycling

  • Introduction of a fully electric company vehicle for events

  • Zero paper operations thanks to cloud-based systems since 2018

  • Sustainable sourcing of merchandise and marketing materials, including FSC-certified and recycled materials

  • Active partnerships with eco-conscious serviced accommodation providers, many of whom calculate and share CO₂ emissions per stay

  • Certified Living Wage Employer, with bonuses, a Health Cash Plan, and wellness programmes for all staff

  • Accessible, flexible, and family-friendly work policies

Where We Can Do Better

Transparency also means acknowledging where we have room to grow. Through our reporting process, we’ve identified areas that require more structure or better data:

  • Carbon tracking for Scope 3 emissions (e.g., purchased goods, business travel, and waste) is still in early stages

  • Sustainability training for staff needs to be more widespread—we aim to reach 100% participation in the next year

  • Diversity and inclusion training has yet to be fully rolled out

  • Volunteering efforts have been ad hoc—we’re now designing a structured charity programme

  • CO₂e data for nightly stays is not yet integrated into the booking journey, but we plan to make this visible to clients soon

We’re taking these gaps seriously, and they’ve been built into our formal goals for the year ahead.

Sustainability and our Future

More than a trend, sustainability is now a strategic priority for us—driving decisions at every level. We’ve begun aligning our efforts with global frameworks, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Paris-aligned benchmarks, so we can better track and benchmark our impact.

Sustainability is no longer a “nice-to-have.” It’s shaping:

  • How we choose suppliers and partners

  • What clients expect from us

  • Where we invest in technology and processes

  • How we recruit, retain, and reward talent

  • The type of accommodation experiences we champion

Our mission remains the same: to make people feel at home—ethically, responsibly, and with integrity. Sustainability simply strengthens how we do that.

Building a Better Tomorrow, Together

We know the journey to sustainability is ongoing. There’s no final destination—only continuous learning, action, and improvement.

We’re proud of the steps we’ve taken, and grateful to the clients, partners, and colleagues who are on this path with us. With greater clarity, purpose, and collaboration, we’re confident that we’ll continue to shape a more sustainable future for serviced accommodation, corporate travel and relocation.
